Gerade im Thema Sangha "verstrickt", den üblichen "Sangha"-Angelegenheiten von jenen ohne Vertrauen in die Sangha, durfte sich Atma an zwei Dinge erinnern. Zuerst viel ihm die Geschichte wieder ein, die er hier noch nicht geteilt hatte. Dann, beim Suchen danach, fand er sie hier wieder und übersetzte Sie fertig. Dann fiel ihm "unsere" werte Frau Zorita ein, welche die letze Zeit, in der sie sich noch meldete, schon sehr krank war aber auch sehr stolz und zornig ("Wenn du nicht aufhörst mich zu Siezen...").

Und dieses, wo immer all jene sich gerade befinden, und den Kreislauf noch nicht verlassen haben, möge eine unterstützende Hilfe sein, die Berauschung mit Jugend, Gesundheit, Leben loszuwerden und sich auf Tod stets gut vorzubereiten, am besten mit dem Erlangen der Todlosigkeit, noch bevor es dann zum letzen Mal, nach so langer langer Zeit passiert.

Mögen alle Wesen sich den Bereich der Furcht- und Bedrängnislosigkeit erarbeiten können und hierfür Furcht- und Bedrängnislosigkeit aus Unwissenheit, als ersten Schritt ablegen.

The proud beetle in a lump of cowdung

There once was a beetle came upon a lump of cowdung. He worked himself into it and liking what he saw, he invited his friends to join him building a city in it. After working feverishly for a few days they built a magnificent ‘city’ in the dung and feeling very proud of their achievement they decided to elect the first beetle king.

Now to honour their new ‘king’ they organized a grand parade through their ‘city’. While these impressive proceedings were taking place, an elephant happened to pass by and seeing the lump of cow dung he lifted his food to avoid stepping on it. The king beetle saw the elephant and angrily shouted at the huge beast. ‘Hey, you! Don’t you have any respect for royalty? Don’t you know that it is rude to lift your leg over my majestic head? Apologise at once or I’ll have you punished.’ The elephant looked down and said, ‘Your most gracious majesty, I humbly crave your pardon.’ Thus saying he knelt down on the lump of cow dung and crushed king, city, citizens and pride in one act of obeisance.

The Buddha, overcame these three kinds of pride when he saw the four sights. When he saw the old man, the pride in youth left him. When he saw the sick man, the pride in health left him. When he saw the dead man, the pride in life left him. If we remove these three types of pride from our minds, we will not be shocked and distressed when we encounter these states. It is useful to contemplate:

•   I am liable to old age; I have not outstripped old age.
•   I am liable to disease; I have not outstripped disease.
•   I am liable to death; I have not outstripped death.

It is a fact of modern society that youthfulness is regarded as most desirabl, while old is to be avoided at all costs. Thus we will go to any extent to appear young even when the body is giving it to old age. We even lie about our age.

Age of a young lady

A film star was once brought up before a magistrate for drunken driving and she was asked how old she was, she replied, ’30 years.’
A few years later, the same film star appeared in court for similar offence and this time also she gave her age as ’30 years.’ Now she was appearing before the same magistrate who remembered her. ‘How is that?’ he demanded ‘five years ago you said you were 30 years old and now you say you are still 30.’ Not to be outdone, the fading former actress fluttered her false eyelashes and explained, ‘Your honour, I have been told many times never to change my testimony in a court of law. I told you once I was 30 and I will never change my word.

For men and woman wishing to live happily and make the best of their lives without having to lie like the film star above, self-knowledge is the most essential factor. The first step to know the nature of the mind is to control it through systematic mental development or meditation. Mental culture is productive of insight which can light up a person’s life. Like a torch, it brightens the winding path in life and enables him to sort out the good from the bad, the right from the wrong and realize the clear light of insight and he will soon get into the correct path. Therefore meditation is to cleanse the mind.

Der stolze Käfer in einer Kuhflade

Einst kam ein Käfer zu einer Kuhflade. Er arbeitete sich selbst hinein und möchte was er sah, er lud seine Freunde ein mit ihm mitzumachen und baute eine Stadt darin. Nach einigen Tagen fleißiger Arbeit maifestierte sich das Bauwerk als einer „Stadt“ im Kothaufen und sich stolz über ihr Erlangen fühlend, beschlossen sie den ersten Käferkönig zu wählen. Um nun ihren neuen “König” zu ehren organisierten sie eine Parada durch deren “Stadt”. Während diese eindrucksvolle Veranstaltung statt fand, passierte es, dass ein Elefant  vorbeikam und als er die Kuhflade sah, hebte er sein Bein um zu verhindern hineinzusteigen. Der König der Käfer sah den Elefanten und schrie wütend dem riesigen Biest entgegen: „He du! Hast du keinen Respekt vor Königtum? Weist du den nicht, dass es unverschämt ist den Fuß über mein königliches Haupt zu heben? Entschuldige dich auf der Stelle oder ich werde dich bestrafen.“ Der Elefant sah hinunter und sagte: „Eure hocht graziöe Majestät, demütig bitte ich um ihr Verzeihen.“ Dies gesagt, kniete er auf die Kuhflade nieder und zerquetzsche König, Stadt und Einwohner und Stolz, in einem Akt aus Ehrdarbietung. Buddha überwandt diese drei Arten von Stolz als er die vier Zeichen sah. Als er den greisen Mann sah, verließ ihm der Stolz an Jugend. Als er den kranken Mann sah, verließ ihn der Stolz an Gesundheit. Als er den toten Mann sah, verließ ihn der Stolz am Leben. Wenn wir diese drei Arten von Stolz aus unserem Geist entfernen können, werden wir nicht geschockt oder bekümmert sein, wenn wir diese Stadien erreichen. Es ist nützlich dieses zu reflektieren:

•   Bin ich dem Altern unterworfen, ich habe das altern noch nicht überwunden.
•   Bin ich Krankheit unterworfen, ich habe Krankheit noch nicht überwunden.
•   Bin ich dem Tod unterworfen, ich habe Tod noch nicht überwunden.
•   Unter all dem was mir nahe und lieb ist, ist Vergänglichkeit und Trennung
•   Ich bin das Ergebnis meiner eigenen Taten, wenn immer ich etwas begehen, sei es gut oder schlecht soll ich deren Erbe sein.

Es ist eine Tatsache, dass die in der modernen Gesellschaft Jugend als das meist erstebbare bezeichnet wird, während Alter mit allen Mühen abgelehnt wird. In dieser Weise nehmen wir alle Mühen auf uns jung zu erscheinen, selbst wenn unser Körper schon dem Alter nachgibt. Wir lügen selbst über unser alter.

Das Alter einer jungen Frau

Ein Filmstar wurde einmal vor die Behörde, wegen Trunkenheit am Steuer gebracht, und sie wurde gefragt, wie alt sie sein und sie antwortete: “30 Jahre”
Ein paar Jahre später, kam der selbe Filmstar, wegen des selben Vergehens, wieder vor Gericht, und auch zu diesem Zeitpunkt, gab sie ihr Alter mit „30 Jahre“ an. Nun erschien sie vor dem selben Beamten, der sich an sie erinnerte. „Wie geht das?“, klagte er, „vor fünf Jahren sagten Sie, das sie 30 Jahre alt sind und nun sagen Sie dieses immer noch.“ Nicht zögerlich, flatternte die alternde frühere Schauspielerin, ihre falschen Augenwimpern und erklärte: „Euer Ehren, mir wurde viele Male gesagt, meine Aussage in einem Gerichtsstand nicht zu ändern. Ich habe Ihnen einmal gesagt, daß ich 30 Jahre alt bin, und werde mein Wort nicht ändern.

Für einen Mann und eine Frau, die wünschen glücklich zu leben und das beste aus ihren Leben zu machen, ohne Lügen zu müssen, wie der Filmstar oben, ist Selbstkennen ein sehr wessentlicher Faktor. Der erste Schritt, die Natur des Geistes zu kennen, ist den Geist durch systematische mentale Entwicklung oder Meditation zu kontrolieren. Mentales Kultivieren ist einsichtserzeugend, was eines Menschens Leben erhellen kann. Wie einen Brand entfachen, erhellt es die windenden Pfade des Lebens und ermöglicht einem das Gute aus dem Schlechten zu sortieren, das Richtige vom Falschen und das klare Licht der Einsicht zu sehen und man wird balt auf den krorrekten Pfad kommen. Deshalb dient Meditation dazu den Geist zu reinigen.

Ohh, Atma sieht gerade, daß "unsere" werte Frau Monika, in ein paar Tagen auch schon einen so gut wie 70er "feiert". Ohh was war sie einst böse, Dhamma-Mamma, zusammen mit werter Kusaladhamma  genannt zu werden. :) Vielleicht war es aber auch nur deshalb, weil Atma die Damen und Herrschaften nicht Dhamma-Großeltern nannte. (damal die Leute, die sich dort und da ihre Städte erbauen, als junge Leute betrachtet und eingeschätzt, so wie sie ihren Altag verbrauchten.)

Also hier auch noch die herzliche Widmung an alle Dhamma-Vorfahren, Eltern und Lehrer.  *gift* Mögen sie sich am "Der 'Stolze Käfer im Kuhmist'-Segen" erfeuen, ernüchtern und höchste Befreiung erlangen.

In Savatthi verweilend. "Bhikkhus, Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen ist eine furchtbare Sache, ein grobes, bitteres Hindernis, um die unübertroffene Ruhe vom Band zu erlangen. Angenommen da wäre ein Mistkäfer, ein Mistesser, voller Mist, voll gefressen mit Mist, mit einem riesigen Haufen an Mist vor ihm. Er, wegen diesem, würde auf die anderen Mistkäfer hinunter sehen: 'Ja, Heerrren! Ich bin ein Mistesser, voller Mist, voll gefressen mit Mist, mit einem riesigen Haufen an Mist vor mir!' In selber Weise ist da der Fall, daß ein gewisser Bhikkhu, erobert von Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen, sein Geist aufgebraucht, seine Robe anlegt und, seine Schale und äußere Robe tragend, in ein Dorf oder eine Stadt für Almosen geht. Dort gegessen so viel er will, voller Almosenspeise, und für den nächsten Tag wieder eingeladen, geht er zum Kloster und prallt in der Mitte einer Gruppe von Bhikkhus: 'Ich habe soviel gegessen wie ich will, ich bin voll mit Almosenspeise, und wurde für den nächsten Tag wieder eingeladen. Ich bin ein Empfänger von Roben, Almosenspeise, Unterkunft und medizinischen Bedarfsmittel, für das Heilen von Krankheit. Diese anderen Mönche haben jedoch so gut wie keine Verdienste, so gut wie keinen Einfluß. Sie sind keine Empfänger von Roben, Almosenspeisen, Unterkunft und medizinischen Bedarfsmittel, für das Heilen von Krankheit.' Erobert von Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen, sein Geist aufgebraucht, sieht er auf andere gutverhaltende Bhikkhus hinab. Dieses wird für diesen wertlosen Manns langes Leiden und Schaden sein. Dieses ist wie Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen eine furchtbare Sache, ein grobes, bitteres Hindernis, um die unübertroffene Ruhe vom Band zu erlangen, ist.

"So solltet Ihr Euch selbst üben: 'Wir werden Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen, das aufgekommen ist zu Seite legen, und wir werden keinerlei Gewinn, Gaben und Ansehen, das aufgekommen ist, unseren Geist verbrauchen lassen.' Dieses ist wie Ihr Euch selbst üben sollt."

Dwelling at Savatthi. "Monks, gains, offerings, & fame are a cruel thing, a harsh, bitter obstacle to the attainment of the unexcelled rest from bondage. Suppose there were a beetle, a dung-eater, full of dung, gorged with dung, with a huge pile of dung in front of him. He, because of that, would look down on other beetles: 'Yes, sirree! I am a dung-eater, full of dung, gorged with dung, with a huge pile of dung in front of me!' In the same way, there is the case where a certain monk — conquered by gains, offerings, & fame, his mind consumed — puts on his robes and, carrying his bowl & outer robe, goes into a village or town for alms. Having eaten there as much as he likes — full of almsfood & invited again for the next day — he goes to the monastery and, in the midst of a group of monks, boasts, 'I have eaten as much as I like, I am full of almsfood & have been invited again for tomorrow. I am a recipient of robes, almsfood, lodgings, & medicinal requisites for curing illness. These other monks, though, have next to no merit, next to no influence. They aren't recipients of robes, almsfood, lodgings, & medicinal requisites for curing illness.' Conquered by gains, offerings, & fame, his mind consumed, he looks down on other well-behaved monks. That will be for this worthless man's long-term suffering & harm. That's how cruel gains, offerings, & fame are: a harsh, bitter obstacle to the attainment of the unexcelled rest from bondage.

"Thus you should train yourselves: 'We will put aside any gains, offerings, & fame that have arisen; and we will not let any gains, offerings, & fame that have arisen keep our minds consumed.' That's how you should train yourselves."

Admin möchte an dieser Stelle auch noch der werten Sophorn einen Dank für den dezenten Hinweis aussprechen. Inzwischen hat Admin seine vom Kuhmistkäferstolz verursachten sozialen Schwierigkeiten dank sehr nachsichtiger Mitmenschen wieder vorerst begraben und beilegen können. Er hatte auch neulich schon sein Zimmer augeräumt und fügt davon hier zur Anschau ein paar Bilder bei (Vorher- und Nachher-Versionen und zuletzt ein Bild von der geordneten Bürokratie).

Nein:A = Nicht Monussa = Mensch
aber sonst und Atmas Rechtschreibfehler im Pali nicht falsches.

Vielleicht kann nach dem nächsten Stuhlgang, ob nun in der Tockenzeit ebenfalls aktiv weis Atma jedoch nicht, auch ein Bild von Mistkäern machen und teilen. Kennt ja sicher keiner der WC-Benutzer, das legen der Maden unverzüglicj, der Fliegen, all das leben und sterben um den Stolz und Nahrung wie sie wirklich ist.

Nette Wohnung...  :) loslassen ist so was schönes, so wie Fegen und Zusammenräumen (reinigen des Geistes, außen)

[២១៦] ម្នាលភិក្ខុទាំងឡាយ ដូចសត្វកំពោង1) ទំពាស៊ីនូវលាមក ខាងក្នុងខ្លួនពេញដោយលាមក បរិបូណ៌ដោយលាមក មានគំនរនៃលាមកធំពីខាងមុខ សត្វកំពោងនោះ ក៏មើលងាយសត្វកំពោងដទៃ ដោយហេតុនោះថា អាត្មាអញ ទំពាស៊ីលាមក ខាងក្នុងខ្លួនពេញដោយលាមក បរិបូណ៌ដោយលាមក នេះជាគំនរនៃលាមកដ៏ធំពីខាងមុខអាត្មាអញ យ៉ាងណាមិញ។ ម្នាលភិក្ខុទាំងឡាយ ភិក្ខុពួកខ្លះ ក្នុងសាសនានេះ ត្រូវលាភសក្ការៈ និងសេចក្តីសរសើរ គ្របសង្កត់ រួបរឹតចិត្ត ក៏ស្លៀកស្បង់ ប្រដាប់បាត្រ និងចីវរ ក្នុងវេលាបុព្វណ្ហសម័យ ហើយចូលទៅកាន់ស្រុកក្តី និគមក្តី ដើម្បីបិណ្ឌបាត ភិក្ខុនោះ ក៏បរិភោគភត្តក្នុងទីនោះ ដរាបដល់ឆ្អែតផង មានគេនិមន្តដើម្បីឆាន់ក្នុងថ្ងៃស្អែកផង ចង្ហាន់បិណ្ឌបាត ក៏មានពោរពេញ ភិក្ខុនោះទៅកាន់អារាមវិញ ពោលអួតកណ្តាលពពួកនៃភិក្ខុថា ខ្ញុំបានបរិភោគភត្ត ដរាបដល់ឆ្អែតផង មានគេនិមន្តដើម្បីឆាន់ក្នុងថ្ងៃស្អែកផង នេះជាចង្ហាន់បិណ្ឌបាត ដ៏ពោរពេញ របស់ខ្ញុំផង ខ្ញុំជាបុគ្គលបាននូវចីវរ បិណ្ឌបាត សេនាសនៈ និងគ្រឿងបរិក្ខារ គឺថ្នាំជាបច្ច័យដល់អ្នកជម្ងឺផង ពួកភិក្ខុដទៃទាំងអម្បាលនេះ មានបុណ្យតិច ស័ក្តិតូច មិនបាននូវចីវរ បិណ្ឌបាត សេនាសនៈ និងគ្រឿងបរិក្ខារ គឺថ្នាំជាបច្ច័យដល់អ្នកជម្ងឺទេ។ ភិក្ខុនោះ ត្រូវលាភសក្ការៈ និងសេចក្តីសរសើរនោះ គ្របសង្កត់ រួបរឹតចិត្ត តែងមើលងាយនូវពួកភិក្ខុឯទៀត ដែលមានសីលជាទីស្រឡាញ់ យ៉ាងនោះឯង។ ម្នាលភិក្ខុទាំងឡាយ អំពើនោះឯង ជាអំពើប្រព្រឹត្តទៅ ដើម្បីមិនជាប្រយោជន៍ ដើម្បីសេចក្តីទុក្ខ អស់កាលដ៏វែង ដល់មោឃបុរសនោះ។ ម្នាលភិក្ខុទាំងឡាយ លាភសក្ការៈ និងសេចក្តីសរសើរ ជារបស់អាក្រក់ យ៉ាងនេះឯង។បេ។ ម្នាលភិក្ខុទាំងឡាយ អ្នកទាំងឡាយ គប្បីសិក្សាយ៉ាងនេះចុះ។

Not only monks, but especially lay people today, using the Gems for gain and fame, without shame, without virtues, full of foolish conceit, do such simple for they own and many long time ruin.

That is why the Sublime Buddha warned even great Kings, who had been still related to the fourth kind of recluse and blind Brahmans.
