About UsOn one occasion the Buddha said: “Admirable friendship, admirable companionship, admirable camaraderie is actually the whole of the holy life.” (SN 45.2)
HamsterWheel is a circle of Buddhist meditation bloggers, but more than that, we are a circle of friends. It all started way back in 2012, when Viscid wanted to create a place where the focus was on actually practicing the noble eightfold path and not just talking about it in theory. From the beginning on, the emphasis of HamsterWheel was “to do the chores” of practice and to progress on the path that is sometimes so difficult to walk.
Thus said, HamsterWheel is not just a place for establishing a steady meditation practice and reflecting on our personal experiences, but is also a meeting place of like-minded people who are available to offer support and inspiration to one another. However, as intimate as this may sound, we are actually rather spread out around the globe! Ranging in location from North-America to Europe and Australasia, we are an international group that are always open to people wanting to join us for practice. While we encourage members to find a qualified real-life teacher and to focus on one tradition, HamsterWheel is not affiliated with any one particular Buddhist school – since when it comes down to practice, we’re all in the same boat. So why not head for that far shore together?
