Dhammañāṇa: Once totally caught by google, AI and machines, every door has been closed for long, long term.

2024 Mar 11 09:14:04
Dhammañāṇa: People at large just wait that another would do his/her duty. Once a slight door to run back, they are gone. By going again just for debts, the wheel of running away turns on.

Dhamma Teamwork - Dhamma Gemeinschaftsarbeit (dhamma sāmaggī) - [Forum Guide]

[Deutsch klicken Sie hier ]

Sāmaggī is translated as "completeness, a quorum, meeting, communion, unanimity, concord" and comes from the adjective Samagga "being in unity, harmonious". Practical it’s used as a word to rewrite collaboration and cooperation. In relation to Dhamma it means "working together for Dhamma/or in the frame of Dhamma".

Within Dhamma sāmaggī it is a wonderful place to practice wholesome actions such as Pattidana (sharing merits), Pattanumodana (sharing the joy of others) and a place to put ones power and work into and render a service (Veyyavacca ). The main purpose of all this work is to learn to give and to let go and a field of Dana (generosity).

Desire to do good things may be sometimes producing the opposite of its purpose and can easy increase pride as well and the best force to hinder the envy and jealousy which are the main effects of wrong Dhamma sāmaggī is mudita (joy). "No headway without joy" Also keep in mind that the mind states are much more important as the things one might produce (they are impermanent), but with the right focusing all this joy with it might bring you to a state where you could be able to reach the unbinding (Nibbana) as well as the highest fruit of wholesome and skillful work. So what ever you do in this frame of practice, watch out that your focus is not the world but the field you maintain and care on your journey which will maybe followed by many if they obverse the benefits you could gain.

Share your great work, share the great work of other and all the joy they have. Look up for works they are suitable to join and increase joy, where ever you are and what ever would skills, there is always a place for good deed. Just let go of your greed, desire and personal prospects, step by step.

In old India, there was once a great discussion between the highest priest, which bliss is the highest and after they could not find a solution they decided to request the Buddha and on this occasion he delivered the Mangala Sutta and one of those highest blesses is “to be engaged in peaceful occupation”. Here a little story retold by  Ven. K. Gunaratana Thera in Mangala Sutta Uannana to explain it’s benefits and side effects, as unusual engaging might course misunderstandings for others and as told also greed and jealousy:

To Engage In Undertakings Of A Righteous Action Is Most Blissful

The following is a story which will give an illustration on the right and blameless conduct one has to keep and the performance of meritorious work:

In the village of Macala, there lived a man Magha by name, who was native of the country of Magadha. One day there was an open air assembly of the villagers, who turned up to formulate their plan with regards to the general outlay of the village. Magha was in the crowd and as it was his habit, he prepared a clean spot where he stood and listened to the village headman who was addressing his fellowmen on matters concerning the welfare of the village. A man came and pushed Magha aside and stood on the clearance of his ground. Magha did not refute nor appeared annoyed, but moved quietly to another place and having made it clean, he stood there. Another man again took up his position and he moved ungrudgingly to the next vacant spot which he swept clean. Again and again, he was made to go from one stand to another. He was heedful of not causing annoyance to people around him, for he realised that any man wanted to choose a clean place for himself.

On the following day, Magha set out from his home and prepared and cleaned a big area of land to serve the purpose of a playing field. He raked out the weeds and whatever rubbish that was scattered on the land. When the work was completed, he kept himself busy in attending to road repairs, which was in a bad state due to heavy usage. He remetalled the damaged portion and leveled up the holes and cracks. A man who happened to pass, enquired of him about his work and he told him that he was in the course of making a safe road to lead him to heaven. The man on learning of his good work, joined him. More men appeared on the scene and they all joined in to assist Magha in the hope of sharing the same merits with him. In all his fellowworkers numbered thirty-two and they toiled diligently with him.

An overseer of the king who looked after the maintenance of the roads and highways, observed with curiosity this gang of workers happily engaged in making a road-way with their free labour. It came to his mind that if would be more practical for them to employ their time to the brewing of intoxicants, which was of course illegal and thereby he could earn a portion for himself by way of bribery once he tipped them off. But Magha could not be pursuaded to fall in with his project though the overseer argued at great length, the uselessness of his work which could be more profitably employed in brewing intoxicants or wild game hunting. This infuriated the overseer and he conceived on a plan to revenge himself on Magha and his fellow workers.

The overseer was not slow in communicating to the king that a gang of robbers were operating on the highways. He named Magha and his men as the robbers and they were caught and brought before the king. The misguided king, eager to mete out punishment to the unfortunate men did not make any enquiry as to their guilt. Whereupon the prisoners were made to lie on the ground and the king’s elephants were immediately released and led to trample on their prostrate bodies. Magha seeing that their death was imminent addressed all this men, “There is left only one course for us and that is to protect our purity of action. May we at this hour extend our loving kindness to the king, his officials, and to the elephants. Let no hatred spring from our hearts; instead, let them be filled with thoughts of love for our fellowmen like the same love that feel for ourselves.”

Somehow the elephants when released in their direction stopped abruptly on approaching the prostrate figures. The king though that his elephants were afraid on being confronted by so many men lying on the ground, so he instructed his men to cover the prisoners with mats, and to lead the elephants to trample on them. But again the elephants refused to do so. The king, noticing the unusual behavior of his elephants, ordered his prisoners to stand before him. The king said, “You men, being daring highway robbers, and caught in your den, what would you all expect me to do as my last resort for your punishment.”

Magha stood forward and bowed in deep respect before the king. He then said, “O! King, it is interesting to know why we were branded as robbers from the highways. We are only peaceful villagers laboring for our own interest to make a road to lead us to heaven. Your overseer, tough not interested in our project, is the principal witness of our activity before you arrest.” The king hearing this said, “I, who am your king and a human being as well do not know your virtue, whereas my elephants although dumb animals themselves, know your true virtue. I now ask your forgiveness.” The king, in order to punish the wicked overseer ordered that the overseer and his family were to work as personal attendants to Magha and have him and his men their village free from taxation and their freedom to live from the king’s rule and also allowed the elephants to work for them.

At the end maybe some short notes to the practical use here:

Please keep in mind that this is a discussion forum and you might receive also critic but at least you would just benefit from good minded hints. In the other direction: If you feel the need to rebuke something, please be as polite as possible and prove the issue well. We quickly love our projects... and others as well and wherever there is much love there is quarrel and jealousy not far.
If you see questionable things in a certain work or when you don’t understand whether such work is beneficial or not, try to make a new topic in one of the forums which are suitable for it and try to discuss the matter generally. If you know some engaging which are not so good meant, pic them up carefully as well and inform your admirable friends.

All here should be no reason for wrong shame! Good things should be told! Don’t believe - if people tell you - it might be not right speech to tell about others and their doing of good deed. Also good ways grow only if there is advertising and appreciation. And to imitate and copy good ways and make it in the same way is also not an unwholesome deed. Dhamma has no reserved copyright but simply the opposite, just take care that you always include to copy the right intention and focus with it, or add it if the original lacks maybe in it.

We wish you much joy with exploring, rummaging and sharing of good work and its fruits!

Dear Dhammafriends,

as this sub forum is somehow like the site hut of our building site (this place here but also the general Dhamma-Building site), is it good and important, that it is comfortable, well placed and invitational for everyone.

I like to invite you to prove and check this guide and place here at the beginning very exactly: if all joints and connections well, the paintings, the floor, the roof is proper, and ask you to repair or mark lacks or to express your impressions in the small woting above.

Thanks!

PS: By the way, it seems like the kitchen is orphaned a little and also the most diligent workers are happy about some sensual pleasures, solid and ribald food from time to time. Maybe the dear ladies and gentleman like to show their culinary skill a little and stir some ambrosial soups. At the beginning all come just for the bacon or what they are used to sense as weal
