Entgegen der Darstellung in der Beschreibung, würd ich nur ein oder zwei Personen, wenn überhaupt, als Frauen wiedererkennen. Sieht mir eher als eine Gruppe von hauptsächlich jungen Novizen aus.

In opposite to the text, I would regard maximum one or two persons in the picture as woman. It looks more as a group of mainly male novices.

Piriven are monastic college (similar to a seminary) for the education of Buddhist priests. These have been the centers of secondary and higher education in ancient times and young priests undergo training at these pirivenas prior to being their ordination.

Piriven sind klösterliche Akademien (ähnlich wie Seminare) zur Schulung von Buddhistischen Priestern. Dies war ein Zentrum für die zweite und die höhere Stufe der Ausbildung in vergangenen Zeiten. Hier junge Priester, die diese Pirivenas vor der Ordinierung durchwandern.

Christopher's (Titmuss) Ordination Day as a Buddhist Monk in Wat Chai Nah (Monastery at the end of the Rice Paddy) in Nakornsridhammaraj (City of the Kings of Dharma), Southern Thailand in 1970. He was named Phra Kitti Subho (the Monk with the Beautiful Reputation!). Christopher remained a monk for six years. In the background sits Venerable Ajahn Dhammadaro - Christopher's Vipassana (Insight Meditation) teacher. Immediately behind him is Venerable Nagasena who acted as translator. Christopher (Titmuss) Tag der Ordination als Mönch im Wat Chai Nah (Kloster am Ende der Reisfelder) in Nakornsridhammaraj (Stadt der Könige des Dharmas) im Südthailand 1970. Er wurde Phra Kitti Subho (der Mönch mit der schön Ruf) genannt. Christopher blieb sechs Jahre ein Mönch. Im Hintergrund sitzt der erwüdige Ajahn Dhammadaro, Christophers Vipassana (Einsichtsmediation) Lehrer. Gleich hinter ihm ist der erwürdige Nagasena, der als Übersetzer arbeitete. Christopher blieb drei Jahre in diesem Kloster.
