Wohl der dritte oder vierte starke Malariaanfall, und wieder war es, daß "zufällig" Devatas aus der Stadt an der Schwelle weise , das was gerichtet werden kann richteten.

Ein paar Tage vordergründig von Grippe und Darminfektion heimgesucht, kam Atma auf seinem täglichen schwerfälligen Bettelgang, der den sonstigen Ausruhabauf unterbrach, bis ins südliche Kloster. Der junge Abt, der die letzten Wochenselbst schwer von Krankheit heimgesucht war und gerade genesen, empfing meine Person wie stets offen, erfreut und zuvorkommend. Nach kürze herausgefunden, daß meiner Persons Gesundheit nicht zu besten steht, ließ er Atma nicht aus, versuchte Medizin zu besorgen und rief dann Nyom Sophorn an (welche gerade Besuch am Folgetag plante). Diese rief Dorfkrankenschwester ("Nachbarn", Schwester und Mutter von Chanroth ) an, und die kleine Schwester kam in einer Lücke der starken Regenfälle, im Dauereinsatz aufgrund der Malaria"welle" im Bezirk, sogleich ins Kloster, wo Atma mit Decke, Polter und umsorgt unter einem Flugdach lag. Sie machte Bluttest und der war wieder gut positiv. Malaria-Medikamente waren aus. Und so zu Infusion mit diversen Aufputschmittel überredet, blieb meinen Person dort liegen und wartete deren Gabe ab. Abt und Klosterdiener stets umsichtig Plane zum Regenschutz nach Windrichtung zu wechseln.
Wohl ein paar Stunden später kam der Vater der jungen Krankenschwester, ehemaliges Khmerouge-Kind und Soldat, und brachte das Medikament. Leicht angeheitert, war es ihm (wie vielen oft) ein Anliegen einfach über seine Kindheit imRegim der Roten Khmer zu erzählen. Wenn Khmer erzählen, dann ist das nicht haß und zorngeladen, oder weit aus der Vergangenheit analysierend, sondern eher wie wenn jemand erzählt was gerade passiert. Wie junge von Alten getrennt wurden, Geschlecht, wie späher jene ausmachten die rasteten, um sie später auszumachen und zu exekutieren. Wann die erste "Kraft" (Mahlzeit) war (6:00) und die zweite "Kraft" (Speisung) (3:00 Nachmittag), wie man Hinrichtete, wie Leute oft noch lebend begraben wurden, und sich dort und da ein Fuß ewegte. Wie man Kinder bei den Füssen nahm, und gegen alte Mangobäume solange schmetterte bis die Haut platzte. Alles Ergebnisse von Ansichten von "Freiheit, Gleichheit, Brüderlichkeit" wo es keinen Vater, Mutter, Anführer, Höheren, Heiligen, keine Gaben, keine Opfer... gibt und keinen Respekt vor dem des Respektes würdig.
So ungezwungen wie begonnen, verlaufen, beendete der herzliche Mann mittleren Alters seine Erzählung mit dem Lächeln der Khmer und brach wieder auf.
Da der Regen nicht aufhörte, es dem Abt und allen nur recht war und die Infusion bis Abends andauerte nahm Atma die Einladung im Kloster zu nächtigen an. Morgens von starken Bauchkrämpfen heimgesucht, abermals mit dem was verfügbar verpflegt, weiter ausgeruht, bracht Atma dann wieder auf in den Wald, wo kurz nach Ankunft Nyom Sophorn mit zwei Khmer Damen, einem weiteren jungen Schüler und einem bayrischen Auslandsstudenten zu Besuch auftauchten, und von dort an 24h (die Nacht verbrachten sie im Dorf) Atma versorgen und pflegten.
Wie Kinder ihr krankes Elternteil, oder um es für moderene zu veranschaulichen, wie Eltern ihr krankes Kind. Der junge kraftvolle Bayer war bald dahin, und suchte Abteuer und Erlebnis, die erwachsenen Schüler, von Kindheit andere Werte und Augenmaß geübt und gelernt, hatten Freude diese andere Welt kennenzulernen und zwischendurch waren da immer wieder, wenn Kraft und Situation paßten, einfach erscheinende, aber tiefe Dhammagespräche, von hoher Aufmerksamkeit. Nichts als gedient und gegeben, brach die Gruppe der Devas am Sonntag glücklich und zufrieden mit sich selbst, auf.

"Nicht so wie man allgemein denkt, daß jener der jemandem äußen sichtlich helfen konnte, einer ist der wahres Verdienstvolles leistet, ist es die Absicht, die kein anderer wirklich sieht, die zählt. Wenn du jemanden helfen möchtest, dann gibst du einfach was du kannst und hast, tust dein Bestes. Ob dem anderen dann damit geholfen ist, er es an- aufnehmen vermag, liegt nicht in deinem Einfluß und folgt seiner eigenen Natur. So solltest du dich immer stets vorrangig über deine guten Geisteshaltungen erfreuen und nicht Produkten die scheinbar daraus aufkommen. Selbst wenn da zum Beispiel jemand nicht gesund wird, oder stirbt, ist, wenn du dich um deine Absicht kümmerst, noch immer nichts da, was deine Freude an deiner Güte einschränken kann. Etwas dienliches zu hegen und pflegen, und wissen, daß man dieses tut, macht Freude, dennoch, Dinge folgen ihrer eigenen Natur und eigenem Kamma."

Es ist ein Segen mit Menschen von grundlegender rechter Ansicht zusammen zu treffen, und ein Unglück mit Menschen falsche Ansicht, ohne wahre Werte und tiefen Respekt vor dem was des Respektes würdig, vereint oder gar gebunden zu sein.

Mögen sich jene die es vermögen, an den kleinen Bruchstücken aus komplexen Zusammenhängen und Geschichten miterfreuen können, mögen sich alle Wesen mit den Verdiensten anderer miterfreuen und die Devas stets davon erzählen.

Oh, jetzt ist Atma gar nicht sicher, ist der junge umsichtige und zuvorkommende Mann, der in der Runde war, der selbe Senghour ? Wenn ja, dann ist er viel älter, erwachsener, aber auch dicker geworden, als der am Bild hier. Mudita.

Vielleicht hat ja jemand aus der Gruppe ein Bild ihrer Gruppe gemacht und mag es zur Erinnerung und Mitfreuen teilen.

Und wenn Atma das richtig versteht, war die jüngere Dame und Schülerin, die mit war, Nyom Phalline , die Nyom Sophorn im Vorjahr auch auf denSpuren Buddhas nach Nepal begleitet hatte?

Ich habe gehört, dass zu einer Zeit der Erhabene sich in Savatthi aufhielt, im Jeta-Hain, Anathapindikas Kloster. Dann näherte sich eine gewisse Devi in der spätesten Stunde der Nacht dem Erhabenen, deren außerordentliches Strahlen die Gesamtheit des Jeta-Hains überstrahlte. Bei der Ankunft, nachdem sie sich vor dem Erhabenen verbeugt hatte, stand sie an einer Seite. Als sie an einer Seite stand, wandte sie sich an ihn mit dem Vers:


Viele Devas und Menschen
machen sich Gedanken über Schutz,
Wohlergehen wünschend.
Sagt also, was ist der höchste Schutz?

[Der Buddha:]
Nicht mit Toren umgehen,
sondern mit den Weisen,
Ehre erweisen jenen, die würdig der Verehrung sind:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Das Leben in einem zivilisierten Land,
Verdienste in der Vergangenheit erwirkt zu haben,
sich in der richtigen Richtung zu bemühen:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Breites Wissen, Geschick,
wohlgemeisterte Disziplin,
wohlgesprochene Worte:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Unterstützung seiner Eltern,
Hilfestellung für die Frau und Kinder,
Gewissenhaftigkeit in der Arbeit:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Geben, Leben in Rechtschaffenheit,
Hilfestellung für die Verwandten,
Taten, die schuldlos sind:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Vermeiden, abstehen vom Bösen;
sich Fernhalten von Rauschmitteln,
wachsam über die Qualitäten des Geistes zu sein:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Respekt, Demut,
Bescheidenheit, Dankbarkeit,
das Dhamma zu passenden Gelegenheiten hören:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Geduld, Offenheit,
Besuch von Weisen,
Diskussion des Dhamma zu passenden Gelegenheiten:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Entsagung, Keuschheit,
die Edlen Wahrheiten sehen,
die Loslösung verwirklichen:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Ein Geist, der, wenn berührt
von den Wegen der Welt,
bleibt unerschüttert, sorgenlos, staublos, sicher:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.

Überall unbesiegt,
wenn in dieser Weise handelnd,
wandeln die Leute überall in Wohlergehen:
   Dies ist der höchste Schutz.
