Dhammañāṇa: Once totally caught by google, AI and machines, every door has been closed for long, long term.

2024 Mar 11 09:14:04
Dhammañāṇa: People at large just wait that another would do his/her duty. Once a slight door to run back, they are gone. By going again just for debts, the wheel of running away turns on.

Werte Dhammafreunde,

Adoption - make it yours!

"...Buddhism does not have a will. It does not adapt; people adapt Buddhism to their various ends. And because the adapters are not always wise, there’s no guarantee that the adaptations are skillful. Just because other people have made changes in the Dhamma doesn‟t automatically justify the changes we want to make..."

Modern society - Moderne Gesellschaft

"You all know the old image of the Buddha as a doctor and the Dhamma as medicine. When you come to practice the Dhamma, it’s as if you’re learning to be  your own doctor, looking after the illnesses of your own mind. Everyone comes up here wounded in one way or another, suffering either from things outside or from things inside.

At the time of the Buddha people were suffering from greed, anger,  and delusion just as we are. With modern culture, modern society, it seems as if  we have more diseases of the mind, more complex ways of getting involved in creating delusion, but they all basically come down to the same three roots."

- Thanissaro Bhikkhu

Schwer ist das Nichtbetroffensein zu verstehen;

It's hard to see the unaffected,
for the truth is not easily seen.
Craving is pierced in one who knows;
For one who sees, there is nothing.

Wahrlich, Freunde, dieses sind die zwei Vergehen. Welche zwei?

Welche zwei? Das unbedeutende Vergehen und das gravierende Vergehen.

Truly, friends, these two are the offences. Which two? The trifling offence and the grave offence.

Truly, friends, these two are the offences. Which two? That which is a grave transgression and that which is not a grave transgression.

Truly, friends, these two are the offences. Which two? The offence that has to be completed and the offence that has nothing to be completed.

The Wise Crack - Der Ausweg

The Wise Crack

Somewhere far in the South Seas, as dawn was breaking, a little monkey climbed to the top of a palm tree and, swinging a very heavy coconut in his hand, began to shout just as loud as loud could be. A camel, hearing the noise, came a little closer, looked up into the tree, and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“I’m waiting for the queen of elephants. I’m going to crack this coconut over her head so she won’t be able to see or to think.” The camel thought, “But what’s really the matter?”

At midday, a lion came by, heard the noise the little monkey was making, looked up at him, and asked, “Is there something you need?” “Yes,” yelled the little monkey, “I need the queen of the elephants. I’m going to crack her on the head with this coconut and split her skull right open.” The lion thought, “But what does he really need?”

In the afternoon, a rhinoceros came by and became curious about the little monkey, and looked up and asked, “So what’s your problem?”

“I’m waiting for the queen of elephants. I’m going to crack her on the head with this coconut until she can’ see or hear.” The rhino thought, “He realy does have a problem.”

In the evening, the queen of the elephants herself came. She scratched her back on the palm. She reached up into the branches to pick a few leaver with her trunk. Above her, it was just as still as still could be. When she looked up and saw the little monkey, she asked: “Do you need anything?”

The monkey replied, “No, nothing at all. It’s true, I was yelling a little bit earlier today, but surely you didn’t take that seriously, did you?” And the queen of elephants thought, “He really does need something.” Then she saw her herd in the distance and stomped off.

The little monkey thought quietly. After a while, he climbed down with the coconut and cracked it on a rock until if broke open. Then he drank the coconut milk and ate the coconut meat.

Die Einsicht - The Insight

Dann will ich euch belehren.“

The insight

A group of like-minded people, still on the beginning of their journey, gathered together and discussed their concepts for a better future. They agreed that they would make it differently. The ordinariness and the run-of-mill-ness and its endless circle was to banal for them. They searched for the unique, the wideness and they hoped to find to them self like no one before. In they mind they saw them selfs already at the aim, imagined how it would be and agreed to put it into action. “First of all”, they said, “we need to search for the great master, as all starts with it.” Then they started their journey.

The master lived in another country and belonged to a different folk. Many quaintness was reported about him, but it seems that nobody really know exactly. From the usual way they had already escaped, as everything here was different: the customs, the landscape, the language, the ways, the purpose. Sometimes they came on a place, where it was told that the master should live there. But as soon as they liked to come to know more detail, they have been told that he is currently gone and nobody knew which direction he toke. However, but one day they fond him.

He was with a famer on the field. In that way he earned his livelihood and the lodging in the night. First they didn’t liked to believe that he was their longed master, also the farmer was astonished that the man who was working on his field, was esteemed as somebody special. But he said: “Yes, I am a master. If you like to learn from me, stay one week on my side. Then I would teach you.”

The like-minded people hired out by the same farmer and gained food, potion and lodging. On the eight day, when it was already dark, the master called them together, sat down with them under a tree and told them a story.

Long time ago, a young man was thinking about what he should make out of his live. He was from a distinguished family, was spared of enforcement and affliction and felt obliged to higher and better. So he left his father and mother, joined a group of ascetic, left them also, found after that the Buddha in person, but also this was not enough for him. More higher he wanted to go, till there where the air is thin and the breath heavy to bear: where nobody else ever was before. As he arrived there, he paused for thoughts. It was the end of this way and he saw that it was a meander.

Now he wanted to take the other direction. He descended, came to a town, conquered the most beautiful courtesan, reached company share of a wealthy businessman and soon was rich and respected himself.

But he didn’t descended till the finally valley. He was just at staying at its upper edge. He missed courage for the full effort. He had a concubine but no wife, he got a son but was no father. He had learned the art of love and life, but not about love and life itself. All which what he hadn’t accepted jet, he started to disobey and ignore till he was disgusted about himself and left even this.”

On this point the master made a break: „Maybe you recognice this story“, he said, „and you know also its end. Its told that the man grow humble and devoted to the ordinary at the end. But what does that mean, he had neglected so much. Whoever trust in life, for him the near isn’t the porridge which he orbit stealthy in the far. He masters the mundane first. Otherwise also the unusual – thought it exist – would be like a hat on a scarecrow.”

It has become silent and also the master remained still. Then he stood up without a word and went on. In the next morning it was not possible to find him. Still night he walked his way and told nobody where he liked to go.

Now the like-minded people stood on their own dependence again. Some of them didn’t want to realize it that the master had left them and walked on to search once more for him. Others couldn’t hardly different between their wishes and fear and searched haphazardly for any way.

But one of them bethought. He walked once more to the tree, sat down and looked into the far till his inner was calm. Whatever plagued him, he took out of himself and putted it in front of him, like somebody had done a long walk and putting down his rucksack before he takes a rast. And he was light and free.

There they stood in front of him: his wishes – his fears – his aims – his real requirements. And without looking in detail or wanting something special – like somebody trusting a stranger – he waited that it would happened by itself, that everything confirm on its place, the place where it belongs seeing the whole according to its weight and range.

It didn’t take a long time and he realized that outside all was grown less, like if some had steal away like detected thieves seeking for the far. And it becomes clear inside him: what he had seen as his wishes, as his fears, as his aims, was never been his own possession. All that came from somewhere else and had crept in. But now this time was over.

It seems that movement comes into the things which are left. What he really owned came back to him, took its right place. Power gathered in his middle and he recognized his own and proper aim. He waited on a little till he was sure. Then he stood up and went on.

Das gute Leben

Bild - Picture

aus The Way to Love--- Father Anthony de Mello

"How few understand what love really is,...

...and how it arises in the human heart. It is so frequently equated with good feelings toward others, with benevolence or nonviolence or service. But these things in themselves are not love. Love springs from awareness. It is only inasmuch as you see someone as he or she is really here, and not how they are in your memory or your desire or in your imagination or projection that you can truly love them; otherwise it is not the person that you love but the idea that you have formed of this person, or this person as the object of your desire not as he or she is in themselves.

The first act of love is to see this person or this object, this reality as it truly is. And this involves the enormous discipline of dropping your desires, your prejudices, your memories, your projections, your selective way of looking ...a discipline so great that most people would rather plunge headlong into good actions and service than submit to the burning fire of this asceticism. When you set out to serve someone whom you have not taken the trouble to see, are you meeting that person's need or your own?"

____

"You see persons and things not as they are but as you are. If you wish to see them as they are you must attend to your attachments and the fears that your attachments generate. Because when you look at life it is these attachments and fears that will decide what you will notice and what you block out. Whatever you notice then commands your attention. And since your looking has been selective you have an illusory version of the things and people around you. The more you live with this distorted version the more you become convinced that it is the only true picture of the world because your attachments and fears continue to process incoming data in a way that will reinforce your picture."

The End of believe - Das Ende des Glaubens

Quote
“Everybody and every religion has something that is respected as the Highest ( called "God" ). Those who have not developed much wisdom have to believe in a personal God or gods in heaven and pray to them asking for favours in a superstitious way. But those who are wise have God in their heart: they respect the highest principle of nature (conditionality or idappaccayata) and can rely on themselves by living in the appropriate way.”

by Bhikkhu Buddhadasa

Doch irgendwie lauft alles schief.

was früher er an falsches Tat.

"The path of Dhamma is no picnic.
It is a strenuous march steeply up the hill.
If all the comrades desert you,
Walk alone! Walk alone! With all the thrill!

Marschiere alleine! Marschiere alleine! Mit aller Begeisterung!
