Werte Dhammafreunde,

ich bin gerade dabei den Text  Uposatha Sila -Die Einhaltung der Acht Tugendregeln  zusammengestellt und geschrieben von Somdet Phra Buddhaghosacariya (Ñanavara Thera), übersetzt von Ehrw. Bhikkhu Kantasilo ins deutsche zu Übersetzten.

Das sind einige Stellen in dem Text, die mir nicht korrekt vorkommen, oder vielleicht ungeschickt übersetzt sind, oder ich deren tiefere Bedeutung nicht aus dem Text erlesen kann.

Zum Beispiel:

Kurz zusammen gefaßt, wie viele Art und Weisen sind da, um die acht Uposatha-Tugenregeln zu brechen?

Da sind zwei Art und Weisen: mittels des Körpers und mittels der Sprache.
In allen der acht, wenn jemand eine Tugendregel bricht, dann ist dies körperlich. Wenn jemand einem anderen anordnet, etwas zu tun, dann ist die Tugendregel durch Worte gebrochen. Diese (Worte) müssen mit einer Absicht einhergehen, daß eine Tugendregel als gebrochen gilt. Dies gilt für nur für die erste und zweite Tugendregel, was die dritte bis achte betrifft, so gilt, selbst wenn man jemanden bittet so zu tun, bricht man damit die Tugendregel nicht.

Das Brechen einer Tugendregel durch persönliche Handlung wird sahatthikapayoga genannt. Jemanden anzuordnen, in bestimmter Weise zu handeln, daß es zum Brechen einer Tugendregel führt, wird anattikapayoga genannt.
So (aner)kennt man jemand der nicht von den Tugendregeln abweicht, als eine tugendhafte Person. Die Weisen sagen, daß Sila, oder das Einhalten von Tugendregeln ein Instrument ist, mit dem man Körper und Sprache reinigen kann. Es ist ein Weg um die groben Veruntrübungen zu bereinigen, die durch Körper und Sprache aufkommen.

Was ich mir vorstellen kann, wenn man diese etwas anderes oder genauer formuliert, ist das sich dieses auf die letzten drei der acht bezieht. Das sich dies aber auch auf geschlechtliches Vergehen, Lügen und Rauschmittel beziehen soll, halte ich für mehr als bedenklich. Das würde heißen, andere zu diesen Dingen zu ermutigen oder dieses anderen Auftragen, wäre kein Bruch der Silas, der Tugend. Sprich, um hier extreme Beispiele zu bringen, würde eine Führer, der gezieltes Vergehen an gewissen Frauen anordnet, oder gezielte Lügen anordnet, oder zum Gebrauch von Drogen aufruft, nicht den Uposata brechen, solange er sich nicht selbst an den Handlungen beteiligt.
Mir erscheint dieses einfach als Unsinnig, unrichtig und auch aus eigener Erfahrung im Hinblick auf Gewissensprüfung und Gewissensfreiheit (nicht zu sprechend das soetwas auch weltliche Konsequenzen hätte) für unrichtig und gar gefährlich.

Daher wäre es nützlich und hilfreich, den werten Bhikkhu Kantasilo aufzusuchen und der Ursache und dem Grund nachzugehen. Es kann ja durchaus sein, das dieser Text vielleicht falsch übersetzt worden ist.

Auch sind andere Teile des Textes, auch im Zusammenhang mit dieser groben Sache, nicht sehr stimmig, neben anderen Formulierungen, die vielleicht in die Irre führen können und vom wesentlichen Ablenken.

Dies ist ein typischer Fall von "Das Pferd von hintern aufgezogen" und die Logik von beiden seiten gleich anzuwenden.

Hier geht es nur darum, das einige Regeln nur durch einem selbst, andere auch durch beauftragen gebrochen werden können. Wie etwa niemad für einem die "Essen zur Unrechten Zeit" Regel brechen kann, jedoch man ein töten z.B. auch beauftragen kann.

Attma wird versuchen den entsprechenden Teil aus der Samaneravinaya hier anzufügen und dies eventuell in der Übersetzung und auf ZzE mit anzuführen.

Destroying living things

264. "Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in hell. What four? One destroying living things, incites others to destroy living things, approves the destruction of living things and praises the destroyer of life. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in hell.

"Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in heaven. What four? Abstaining from destroying living things, not inciting others to destroy living things, disapproving the destruction of living things and not praising the destroyer of life. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in heaven."

2. Adinnādāyīsuttaṃ

Taking the not given

265. "Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in hell. What four? Taking the not given, inciting others to take the not given, approving, taking the not given and praising the taker, of the not given. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in hell.

"Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in heaven. What four? Abstaining from taking the not given, not inciting others to take the not given, disapproving taking things not given and not praising the taker of the not given. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in heaven."

Sexual misbehaviour

266. "Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in hell. What four? Misbehaving in sexual conduct, inciting others to misbehave in sexual conduct, approving sexual misconduct and praising sexual misconduct. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in hell.

"Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in heaven. What four? Abstaining from sexual misconduct, not inciting others to sexual misconduct, disapproving sexual misconduct and not praising those misbehaving in sexual conduct. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in heaven."

4. Musāvādīsuttaṃ

Telling lies

267. "Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in hell. What four? Telling lies, inciting others to tell lies, approving the habit of telling lies and praising the lier. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in hell.

"Bhikkhus, endowed with four things as though led and lain is in heaven. What four? Abstaining from telling lies, not inciting others to tell lies, disapproving the habit of telling lies and not praising the lier. Bhikkhus, endowed with these four things as though led and lain is in heaven."
