Bhante usually goes for Bin Bat at 7:30.
But yesterday, because of illness, he accepted a meal cooked here in the house.
I think today will be the same. I will cook here and Bhante will not go on pindabat, I think. (Not sure. Maybe he wants to.)
Bang Villa and Puthy also came yesterday and brought food and helped. They also bought everything to cook here in the house.
Bhante still took his meal prepared at "home" today. Bang Villa and Puthy came again, with Puthy's husband as well, and brought much to eat and some new kitchen inventory.
It was a nice trip. A bit longer time than expected. When I came back just before 19:00, Bhante's door was locked, no answer after multiple knocking.
Not so much worry actually about doing wrong in the strictest sense, as keeping basic Sila is not so much a problem.
More worried sometimes about forgetting, misunderstanding, misinterpreting, or acting on false information and being blamed. The first three are surely my responsibility. The latter, I cannot change. So I can only try to not be angry about a certain person's contemptuous and contemptible behaviour, by thinking of something else.
The trip was nice, but longer than thought, all the while a bit worried about wasting time while sightseeing at Phnom Basat, though certainly pleasent to talk with Upasaka Vithou and get to know his family and himself, talking a bit on a more personal and relaxed level than usual the last two weeks, and learn a bit about his own outlook on life and aspirations. Asked about my own, I could not give much definite answers, even for the near future. I will just stay with Bhante as long as deemed useful by the
authorities , as far as I can understand them.
We talked about the visa matter (already before leaving, with Bhante present). The tentative decision was made to go by car to Vietnam on Saturday, the 22nd of February, which seems to be the only day, except for maybe one week later, the 29th, where Vithou would have time. As he is a busy man, it seems important to settle the decision not too late. And he already started to make arrangements today for the 22nd.
Worries about leaving Bhante alone for a whole day while possibly still weakened by medical procedures were (of course) dismissed by Bhante: "Maybe you know that Atma used to live alone before."
I think some arrangements should be made to bring food.
By the time I came back, short before 19:00, my worry (about wasting time) was confirmed. Bhante's door was locked. No answer on multiple knocking. Taking surely needed rest already. Usually I would have brought tonics at that time, to prepare the stomach for the last antibiotic dose. So this did not happen today. I assume he would have taken the antibiotics (now even two different ones, if finally informed correctly) on an empty stomach then.
Going up to knock on the door a last time, I met Upasaka Vladimir who came up after me. He asked about how it is going with Bhante's health. After explaining a bit the general situation as I know it, I told him about my current worries (of having come too late just now). He said some things to appease my worries and then went downstairs to go on with his unpleasent work of correcting English exams.
He also mentioned, while already leaving, that going from Cambodia to Thailand for the visa renewal would not be a good idea at this time, since Thai authorities had made a move to treat incoming travellers from Cambodia the same as those from China, due to fear of the Corona virus, after the
Cambodia government's act of humanitarian help . Vietnam should not be a problem, though, he said.
So the idea to go to Vietnam instead of Thailand seems to be a good one also for this reason.
