Dhammatalks - Dhamma Lehrreden  (dhamma desanā) [Forum Guide]

[English click here ]

Werte Dhammikas,
Werte Upasikas,
Werte sangham.net Besucher,

Dhammatalks [Forum Guide]

Dear Dhammikas,
Dear Upasikas,
Dear sangham.net visitors,

This topic may be dedicated to express and share requests and invitations to Dhamma-teachings.

Dear Gentleman and Ladies, please feel invited to share such invitations to Dhamma-Talks and Explaining for "our" online community here. If the question or Request is not directed to a certain Ven. Bhikkhu or Ven. Bhikkhuni (you may raise your request also without mention a certain person) the "monastery" attendants will try to take care that your question will forwarded. Off course we would also try to help in formulating and rendering a pre-discussion within the other available forums. So please don't hesitate and fear such as a improper question.

I also like to suggest in regard of the topic questions itself, this work:
The Right to Ask Questions  , by Larry Rosenberg
The Karma of Questions: Essays on the Buddhist Path , by Ven. Ajahn Thanissaro

 :-*

Honored Sangha,
Venarable Bhikkhus,
Venerable Bhikkhunis,

May you please apologize if a certain question was not directly personal directed to you.
Of course every Venerable Bhikkhu or Venerable Bhikkhuni is here heartily invited - so the "fortune" might brought us together indirectly - to lift up a raised question and your are heartily invited to share your valued teaching here in this Dhammadesana area. Please don't hesitate to mention it, if you need any additives to do so.

Dear Veneralbe Bhante Bodhi,

I would kindly request a translation and explaining of a very important but less mentioned Sutta. It's the Avaṇṇārahasuttaṃ AN IV 83 (attached the pali, generously given by the late Sir Goenka via Vipassana Research Institute).

I guess it's not only an important topic, but also difficult to understand. We know that out of this case, Asians long time walked the "secure" way of "never criticize a contemplative or Brahman, yet on the other side the Western attitude is merely the opposite. To find the middle way is hidden in Buddhas teachings and they are very complex, because they are actually simple.

We know that complicity by appropriation or tolerating has the also very deep impact on our karmic fruits (think on war generations) and does not lead to freedom of remorse, yet it is not always possible - especially for somebody deep involved in the worldly life and society - for a layman to express disagreement and merely made underground.

It would be great to have a good an consistency explaining of how to judge in a right way and when it is better to withdraw the whole issue and step out of the whole case. I have to think on a Cambodian Folktale "Great Hermit Saves the Tiger " where the basements of judgment (chandāgati, bhayāgati, dosāgati, lophāgati, Mohāgati and sugatigamanam) are mentioned in a great way.

There are of course two levels of praise and criticism: as a worldly needed tool for sociaty and daily live, to give people an orientation and as a tool between admirable friends on the path. And there is a cross connection between those both, which is the most sensitive but also most beneficial tool for the lay Sangha and worldly society as well as a adjusting element even the Buddha accepted as authoritative in rendering his Vinaya.

Of course this are just thoughts and ideas how to match this topic in a way that it might be understandable.

It would be more then a honor, if you could give us a talk and translation so that we are able to share it via sangham.net and zugangzureinsicht.org as a gift of Dhamma.

Venerable Sir, Bhante Bodhi, it would be good if you accept our invitation.

If you even would like to provide it directly, I would be honored to prepare you an account and an email address, so that you are able to access without the need of third part resources.
