It would be good if Ven. Nyanadassana  would, out of compassion citicice what should be criticed, praise what should be praised, and explain further what should be explained further and in detail.

It would be good if you, Guest, invite other Venerables to participate, out of compassion, likewise and forward and share in such a way the merits.

Of course it would be good if the original questioner an participator on the discusdion on DW would be informed of the answer.

To understand the burden and danger of following a wordly "Bodhisatta"-Path, suppling "drugs", that one incease actually his duties in and for the world and the effects of drug edictions my person once gave hints and ways to understand why people need to care for others, are bound to pay the bills of health services by merely sharing a reaching of Ven. Ajahn Chah and a picture, under the level of Vanaradari (the cave of the forest recluse) .

It was not difficult to reduce from 150kg without any pains and less in-natural effort, to the pleasure of the half in just some years after meeting all of the heavenly messengers again, and it's because of a still fat person that it also happended that this appearing kaya is still able to be a "b(r)other" for some who are able to take the benefits of being called "You are still fat!"

So even a fat person can actually give food for future conditions to gain all possible healthy conditions. It's not so that fat is bad, but agreement, praise and nurishing of that.

Why many Buddhist monks are over weight?

Question raised by
Quote from: SarathW , 11.3.2017 on DW
Why many Buddhist monks are overweight?

I notice that many Buddhist monks seems overweight.
What is the reason?
The only reason I can think of is that they consume too much sweet or they consume beverage containing too much sugar.
This is a result that monks are only allowed to consume non-solids after mid day.
The objective of this post is to increase the awareness of this problem and improve the health of our most valuable treasure. (Monks)
I remember reading that diabetics is very common in Buddhist monks.
Perhaps we should make a campaign to increase the awareness of this curable disease.

Venerable members of the Sangha,
walking in front Fellows in leading the holly life.

In Respect of the Triple Gems, Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, in Respect of the Elders of the community _/\_ , my person tries to answer this question. Please, may all knowledgeable Venerables and Dhammika, out of compassion, correct my person, if something is not correct and fill also graps, if something is missing.

Valued Upasaka, Upasika, Aramika(inis),
dear Readers and Visitors,

- Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa -

My person had, maybe still has, the luck of having a wise uncle - it might been have told somewhere else before.
It was seldom that the young boy met his beloved and respected uncle and for his annoying till he finally understood well his message in the right contect of liberation, he did mostly not speak much with him, just saying: "You are to fat." or "You are still to fat".

It's mostly in the first place annoying when wise people give us essential help that naturally points on and criticise of what we are mostly attached to and love. Our body and/or mind appearence.

In this "mood" or better mode and under this light may following word be possible able to take for at first place to judge ones own current conditions and to be able to judge whoms ways are best followed:

What ever one gives, that and such he receives. What ever offered on takes and use it as nurishment, that is how he possible appears for others in their worlds.

Having given, giving pleasure, giving cause to greed, one becomes a Yakkha of greed by him self and grows in this world. (See: The greed sucking Yakkha )

Having given what binds, one receives it, taking it, one is bounded to the same load.

So one, having seen the dangers in becoming should neither give not substain on the pleasures of sensuality.

For people desiring to get rigde of this bound, the wise suggest to led the live of Tudong to cut away all possible anchors of gaining in every way.

To cite the Buddha, and make cause and it's effects visibke in regard of the question:

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa

[1] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be unfactual, untrue, unbeneficial (or: not connected with the goal), unendearing & disagreeable to others, he does not say them.

[2] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be factual, true, unbeneficial, unendearing & disagreeable to others, he does not say them.

[3] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be factual, true, beneficial, but unendearing & disagreeable to others, he has a sense of the proper time for saying them.

[4] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be unfactual, untrue, unbeneficial, but endearing & agreeable to others, he does not say them.

[5] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be factual, true, unbeneficial, but endearing & agreeable to others, he does not say them.

[6] In the case of words that the Tathagata knows to be factual, true, beneficial, and endearing & agreeable to others, he has a sense of the proper time for saying them. Why is that? Because the Tathagata has sympathy for living beings."

With other words, one is not wise to give nourishment others then for the benefit of the ending of dependency of nutrition.
As to understand the proper time: Times when possible pleasant taken food will not be mistaken as such but to nurish and certain arosen attitude of mind.

Not value, not seeing, not finding joy, not having faith enough to simple follow, persons, people, their following their items surrounding them, their bodies, kayas, communities, grow fat, heavy, unfexible, unhealthy, welcoming for those with strong tendency to greed, rāgā carita (greedy nature) and saddhā carita (faithful nature). Its the nature of becoming, its the nature of seeking for pleasure, that lot of suffering follows such tendency, like the cat the ox.

So its good to read the linked story, addopted from the story of the "Demons of anger", mosty taught by the overweighted and learn how to get sure not to fall in the trap of the "Yakkhas nourishing on greed", inwardly and outwardly, looking in the mirror of the Dhamma, asking one self: "Am I still fat?" and as the slim and proper appeared about a proper diet.

Anumodana!
