Okasa Bhante Ariyadhammika ,

as Bhante is someone who came much around, knows many of the most famous communities and acts himself as preceptor, my person thought that Bhante could give an idea of the current usual practice of new monks.

As far as my person is aware, the first training (denoted also in the ordination action) is in relation with the penetrating of form, body and it's full understanding. Traditionally the focus would be on what ever body-contemplation, reflecting Asubha, cemetery dwelling... (much of that is of course contained in the usual recitations).

The fact that there are many this days who focus on the mental side of nama-rupa seems to increase a tendency toward materialism although not even aware.

How are modern situations, mostly Deva-like dwelling, say less knowing of kaya-dukkha, approached? How does nowadays training prevent new Bhikkhus from developments which possible cut off the path for long time?

How are the first kammatthanas actually approached in certain branches?

This days, where there is less material suffering, wouldn't this fact not even more ask for firm penetrating and disgust toward rupa?

(Just from my persons spectrum around here and there, it seems to be less to not at all practiced, inwardly and outwardly)

It would be good if Bhante, out of compassion, would share his merits and approach the topic in a way that many may benefit from it.
