Dear friends in the Dhamma,
The French publisher Sully éditions - which have been publishing my translations of Theravada Buddhist teachers like Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Sumedho - has accepted to publish my translation of two of Ayya Khema's retreats into French:
- TO BE SEEN HERE AND NOW
- All of us beset by birth, illness and death
I would like to know if these texts are free of rights or whether the publisher should contact someone to deal with this matter.
Many thanks in advance for your reply,
Jeanne Schut

And dear Upasika, you are free to translate and Publish all avalible on accesstoinsight.eu, if you make no business with it but give it as a gift and "we" are more then honored if you like to be the "reason" why we like to start a french section as well. You could even help to develop it.

Free of Rights is impossible, dont forget, Dhamma is the heritage of the Sangha even if they do not understand it today.
You may find here the in between, Buddha original ways in this sharp critic in both directions:

If Mrs. Schut is interested, dont feel defended. Attma (Bhante Johann, a usual 3nd person for addressing one self in Asia) gives freely.

Valued Upasika (?) Jeanne Schut,
Mudita (sympatic joy with this great news and good signs in this world!!
Sadhu!!
Attma (me) has no overview of the french Dhamma world, but would "love" to see our try to have this project of ATI (accesstoinsinght.org) project not only in English and the German hard work of generous people: accesstoinsight.eu
I know there have been french translation. Maybe you have access and the surrounding to people rejoice in devotional deeds and Dhamma gift.
Attma (a person born in Austria) pardons for the late answers, he did not organic a forwarding to him self since one year and is normaly not in this world but a Tudonga Monk, far away in the remote places and forst of Cambodia.
To the question, as far as Attma knows, no. From a juristic Side they are possession of Sister Khemas "publishing house" Jhana Verlag and the Germans ans Sri Lankan Linage are Traders (the most, it should not should not sound wrong monastics from this are have been Jewish and they trade since Generations, a habit maybe difficult to overcome.
Buddha-Haus-Shop - Jhana-Verlag buddha-haus-shop.de/
May you have the chance to do it!! Sadhu!
Also Ajhan Chan is not free see this topic at the end but owned by the "Sangha" of his monastery, there is written By tha german young abbot /you need permission from him.... "The authorizing Brahmans in robes" http://forum.sangham.net/index.php/topic,842.0.html and why my person has stop to translate from ajahnchah.org http://www.ajahnchah.org/
http://forum.sangham.net/index.php/topic,21.0.html
There are the teachings of Ajhan Chah which are translated mostly by Ven. Bhikkhu Thanissaro in a context of Dhamma Dana "The authorizing Brahmans in robes" http://forum.sangham.net/index.php/topic,842.0.html
There is very less Dhamma Dana in this world and many monastics make a lifelihood of there heritage or their teachers not to speak of laypeople, but that is not the place Attma should talk any more.
Please feel free to join the "Vitual Vihara" it is international and you can use it for you Projects as well, its a Dhamma Gift.

Ehrewerter Bhante Nyanabodhi,

Before the "End" of accesstoinsight.org, 1.1.2014 (With is now common
... I dont know..)
And as Dhamma-Dana (with no business!! and the intention to gain
something "rightly" sharable everywhere)
Sorry that I do not know our heritage of great Mr Bullitt (owner of ATI)
in every detail, its abou 6000 page now (Original english and german)
and much much new Teachings and Dhamma in just one Year. Attma has not
even read all of this greatest Gift of 10 Years work what we try to keep
alive.
Mudita!!
Dear Ms/Mrs. Upasika (? Layperson with refugee in the three Germs) Schut,
Some additional info to the Dhamma-Gift (Attma does not like in the other way, that is very wrong view, Rights but usual in western countries), the English pages are not so maintained (Attma is not so good in English as you maybe can see, but he understands it well), Sorry, its a lot of work and there are just view people who give there time and energy in this "Buddhist" world.
http://zugangzureinsicht.org/html/faq_en.html#copyright
There is no problem to publish 10.000 Books and give them as a gift, for example. Attma trusts John Bultitt and his work, his Gift. His genrosity.

Dear Ms/Mrs Jeanne Schut,
I guess Attma was as usually to "optimistic" and just read quick just the a good word connection.
neither people who have given ATI pages, nor people who have given ZZE Pages, and Attma himself in no way will claim anything, even they know what they have given.
Generous people who made a lot of work but under stand the Dhamma do not punish, because there is no use of it.
That goes also in the direction of companies and professional traders in Dhamma.
Attma would like to representative for this old Tradition and people who have trust in it, tell you stay away from such, maybe one day you understood, its for the welfare of yours and its somehow for the future of the heritage, which is really not sure as even Monks and Nons have no more trust (faith) in it and rather believe in Attachement to the world, love (desire), their personality, and their defilement, are wording, Intellectuals but no more what is called noble Disiples of the Buddha. Ayya Khema is known, that she talk, to laypeople "You are your Island, make your self to an island (Buddha told that to his holy Ariayan Disciples, all fully understanding the Dhamma). So she wars for sure motivating, but did not really talked what the Buddha talked. He was not that fast.
Regarding the Trade, Buddha even told a King:
One should not make an effort everywhere,
should not be another's hireling,
should not live dependent on another,
should not go about
as a trader in the Dhamma.[2]
Ud 6.2: Paṭisalla Sutta — Seclusion {Ud 64} [Thanissaro].
The Buddha explains to King Pasenadi how to spot another person's good qualities.
Your are always welcome and really all up to you choice, maybe here a good introducen into the good teaching and to understand this Noble tradition aside of teacher who make in the west a livelihood. Actually Ajahn Boow, maybe you know him, sold it to actions like "Thai for Thai" and many believe he was an Arahant.
Self-guided tour of the Buddha's teachings
The Dhamma: An outline of the Buddha's teachings, organized according to his method of "gradual instruction" (anupubbi-katha). The Buddha frequently used this framework to guide his students from first principles through progressively more advanced teachings, all the way to the fulfillment of the Four Noble Truths and the realization of Nibbana.
Attma is sure you and your Printer make the right choice maybe you even have a way to what is called Dana.
Generosity (dana)
