Don't think that coca-cola isn't actually an old Indian tradition! And don't say coffee isn't a valid tonic/medicine either. To make Coca-cola complete:

Kola, is also an unknown tonic in Cambodia, although reported that the plant has been see in forest's here.

Kola was the "one seed a day" of the Sublime Buddha when he practiced strong asceticism and "standard" tonic of various Samanas in India. Kola contains many times more coffin then coffee.

See more also here .

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa

52. "Sariputta, there are certain recluses and brahmans whose doctrine and view is this: 'Purification comes about through food.'[19] They say: 'Let us live on kola-fruits,' and they eat kola-fruits, they eat kola-fruit powder, they drink kola-fruit water, and they make many kinds of kola-fruit concoctions. Now I recall having eaten a single kola-fruit a day. Sariputta, you may think that the kola-fruit was bigger at that time, yet you should not regard it so: the kola-fruit was then at most the same size as now. Through feeding on a single kola-fruit a day, my body reached a state of extreme emaciation. Because of eating so little my limbs became like the jointed segments of vine stems or bamboo stems. Because of eating so little my backside became like a camel's hoof. Because of eating so little the projections on my spine stood forth like corded beads. Because of eating so little my ribs jutted out as gaunt as the crazy rafters of an old roofless barn. Because of eating so little the gleam of my eyes sank far down in their sockets, looking like a gleam of water which has sunk far down in a deep well. Because of eating so little my scalp shriveled and withered as a green bitter gourd shrivels and withers in the wind and sun. Because of eating so little my belly skin adhered to my backbone; thus if I touched my belly skin I encountered my backbone, and if I touched my backbone I encountered my belly skin. Because of eating so little, if I tried to ease my body by rubbing my limbs with my hands, the hair, rotted at its roots, fell from my body as I rubbed.

Maybe not so known in Cambodia (and often opposed as valid tonic from certain groups)

Cacao:

from the cocao-bean : (as labor requiring and small planting areas only, actually a perfect plant for Cambodia)

Either as unsweeted pure "chocolate"

user:johann:gallery:archiv2019:20191105_01.jpg

or Black-chocolate or cook-chocolate, which does contain sugar.

Not use-able is other chocolate which contains milk and other things.

Usage for: classical tonic as giving strength but also supportive against malaria.

This morning, on alms round, my person received some medicine and tonics send by Upasika Cheav Villa , by Nyom Chanroth .

While investigating "life time root-medicine", both attentively attended the investigating around "choclate", previous introduced by Nyom Sophorn who gave it as tonic and medicine in times of malaria, mixed with oil and sugar.

Yesterday not only dry seeds of pure cacao from Ratanakiri arrived on effort of Nyom Villa here, as medicine objected for the Sangha, but also plants which possible help the villagers and enviroment here to find good living, as the smallt tree does not need cleared forest and does not require machines, given the whole year fruits and also would prevent from land burning, by Nyom Chanroth's effort. Perfect in balance with old traditional farming in family size and in harmony with nature.
10 families followed the way Nyom Chanroth introduced to his near neighbors having invited a not land occupying company from Thailand.

The share for the Ven. fellows here, to clear up doubts:

* Cacao beans, cacao powder, can be stored as lifetime root medicine.
* 100% chocolate from market, as/if mixed with ofter of the 5 tonics (bhesajja), for the most, can be stored 1 week. Tonic for strength.
* Chocolate drinks, mixed with milk (peyopāna ) can be consumed in afternoon when sick (but not stored!).

The plant, if given, can be easy maintained at monasteries and the simple way of fermentation of the seeds and drying them, may be easy learnd. The final cacao beans can than be taken, stored... can be eaten direct , having removed the peel, as medicine.

May many be able to take a share on the merits done here, and may the Devas inform those not touched yet.

“Monks, I allow fruit-medicines — i.e., vilaṅga, long pepper, black pepper, yellow myrobalan, beleric myrobalan, embric myrobalan, goṭha (ផ្លែក្រវ៉ាញ), or whatever other fruits are medicines and do not serve, among non-staple food, the purpose of non-staple food; or, among staple food, the purpose of staple food. Having accepted them, one may keep them for life and, when there is reason, consume them.

Then, yesterday, he walked up to the 2nd Kuti, telling later that he looked for a comfortable way up to the future 3rd.

A little "burdened" by being the heat element provoced in the body, my person thought it would require some neutralization.

Short later Nyom Chanroth came back from his carry-break and asked to offer medicine, having found a tree right next behind the 2nd Kuti, a កន្ទួត ព្រែ, Konduat Brey-tree, the secound fruit, next to the fruit (សម៉, samau , of which the are many different kind), which is used in combination with urine, direct allowed to use as medicine.

កន្ទួត ព្រែ, Konduat Brey
