Since end of long Vassa no more rain, leaves start to cover the ground and soon the land will be burned another time to get fast ride of what has been cut down the last month nest to the total unused lands covered with weeds and high grass, kept for sell off.

It's the year of big house building here, after the years of steets and cars.

The season now is also the season when the Yakkha-spiders (Giant/Demon-spider, as have been told be village children once) use to build their nets. Huge they are found often right before ones face, as they do it across larger path, where larger animal use to travel. The size can be up to 12-15 cm and larger, in diameter.

There is a nice simile by late Ven. Chah, of how a Yogi stays patient and centered and waits on skillful arising to eat on it:

The Spider

I got a good example from watching spiders. A spider makes a web like a net. It weaves its web and spreads it at different openings. I once sat and contemplated one. It hung up its web like a movie screen, and when it was done it curled itself up quietly right in the middle of the web. It didn't run around. As soon as a fly or another insect flew into its web, the web would vibrate. As soon as the web vibrated, the spider came running out of its place and caught the insect for food. When it was finished, it curled itself up in the middle of the web as before. It didn't matter what kind of insect got caught in its web, a bee or whatever: As soon as the web vibrated, the spider ran out to catch it. Then it would go back and hold on, quiet in the middle of the web where no one could see it, every time.

Seeing the spider act in this way, I came to an understanding. The six sense spheres are the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The mind stays in the middle. The eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body are spread out like a net. Sense objects are like insects. As soon as a sight comes to the eye, or a sound to the ear, an aroma to the nose, a taste to the tongue, or a tactile sensation to the body, the mind is what knows. Things vibrate right to the mind. Just this is enough to give rise to an understanding.

We can live by curling up inside, just as the spider curls up on its web. We don't have to go anywhere. When insects run into the net and it vibrates to the heart, then as soon as we're aware we go out and catch the insects. Then we return to our original place

After watching the spider, you can apply what you've learned to your mind. It's the same sort of thing. If the mind sees inconstancy, stress, and not-self, it's spread wide open. It's no longer the owner of happiness, no longer the owner of suffering, for it sees clearly in this way. It gets the point. Whatever you do, you're at ease. You don't want anything else anymore. Your meditation can do nothing but progress.

(Ohh... while writting the larger burns started it's season, using the strong winds)

Nyom Chanroths stepfather desided some days ago to take a new wife, a young karaoke singer. Upasika Sovann, Chanroth's mother, let Atma known while the last time on alms round, somehow "proud" that she doen't bear any ill-will or anger, rather filled with compassion and metta. "One giving freedom, gains freedom."

Now the stepfather seeks to abound their land between Chanroths small compound and the Ashrams hill.

A while ago, when on alms in the north, Atma took his food at the north monastery. It was a little occupied by soldiers. Asking them about their seek and having explained them how to approach places of which are dedicated for the Sangha, the two younger and modest seemingly soldiers (told origin from a unit at Udong) told they seek for training areas at the foot of Phnom Aural and may come in Dec. in larger number.

Having crossed much land, areas everywhere, my person can not remember a single place which hasn't become death land/areas far around military places. That's something certain natural all over the world.

The leader of the group of disciples around Acariya Buddh Sovong, who visited the Ashram some days ago - Nyom Chanroth told today - asked yesterday, whether it would be proper and given to place Buddha relics, originated from Burma, somewhere at Ashram Thmo Duk. And where it would be best placed.

Told about the great benefits for Buddhaanusati for possible dwelling practicing Monks and Yogis, but also about certain dangers of becoming a pilgrimage, sightseeing side if not dedicated it foremost upwardly, my person told to let him know all of this and may he try as he feels inspired, having Silas and non-harming as fundamental base for really good undertakings.

Of course my person also encouraged that aside of no troubles anywhere, if no worker are found who enjoy to do things keeping 8 precepts, it's for great benefit and highest insight to sacrifices not already forgotten old Dukkha but spend 1,2...30 days to make things as much as possible under ones own strength directly.

A former relative of the medical supporter of Wat Arkyum, who died 1 year ago, wanted to know where to find the Ashram here, and so, guided by Bhante Indannano and the lay priest of Wat Arkyum, came just up with a friend of him.

Veneration and given drinks and tonics, they hadn't much deeper interest then to inspect thing where they possible could assist. Bhante Indananno told that a group around devoted of Wat Arkyum desires to spend a day carrying material for kuti and uposatha-hall up the hill about 7.January .

After short visit and taking some pictures for anusavery (reflection) they then left back.

May all rejoice with their merits done here.

The lay people, yesterday being "asked to help", or how to help the mouse child, although still more tendency to take side on the rats rather then the snakes, seeing a child, especially the female, at least decided then that they can not really help here (pic and story in the other topic above linked).

How ever, later in the evening, leaving it as it is, the mother had fetched it's child from there again.

May the lay group get in touch of the effects of their decision.

Still the battle between the mice and the snake on food and offspring goes on, sometimes inside or near around the cave, neither side having given up their target in the world, neither side capable for taking refuge and turn to Sila, bond to certain livelihood.

The season of picking up the fruits of labor from the fields has particularly began here and it's generally silent, pleasing and the whether supportive for it.

The Venerable monk, althought pleased, lastly desided to go back again down to the flat lands, as he feared not finding needed food and ways to support his parents as there are no customs of providing of fonds here or use artificial systems doing securing such.

Yesterday, having left the cave and inhabitants their ways, Atma reflected: "long do you spend here on one place, longer then ever" then the mighty on mountain Aural came into the ārammaṇa, "saying" : 'come up an leave it behind for a while". Thinking: "Alone makes no sense and selftortue. Also, what is there what isn't here for release avaliable? For lay people a burden when guiding. If the would be a monk asking to go with him: why not", and left the case abound.

This morning, on alms, a Venerable stopped approached, and gave fruit and milk. It was the Ven. who accidently met Atma already year before in same way and visited the Ashram short later, from an Ashram told south Speu. After having done he told that after returning from norther monastery, he would came to visit. Having invited him to stay and use the Ashram, he then asked: "Does Ven. like to go up to the mountain with me?". "it depends on why, when and how...  (intention)" and then each walked on.

The fruit was one Atma mentioned to Nyom Chanroth two days before, discussing the special fermented medicine, as being a natural fermented one (tasting like truffle mixed with sugar) stored in a coconut like hard peel on the tree for long), hardly ever to gain here in this area, not see since 4 years. Having a slight alcoholic taste, Atma is only able to consume when sick.

Ohh those Devas all around  :)

Atma left the case and cave then alone for some hours and returning silent again, mice and snake had gone on their ways elsewhere.
